I was visiting with my mom and dad the other day. I told them that I put their thoughts on the family blog of Pearl Harbor that they gave to me. Daddy told me that he had a message that he really wanted me to give to his family on this blog. This was written by David O. McKay in his book "Secrets of a Happy Life". Daddy had saved it for many years and was happy he could share it because it was so meaningful to him.
"Out of eternity come the years and into eternity they go...What then should be man's greatest purpose as he marks one by one the passing years? It should be to cherish those attributes which, like his soul, will endure and brighten throughout all eternity. Life is before you; not an earthly life alone, but an endless life - a thread running interminably through the work of eternity....I believe that God...is our Father and desires the happiness and eternal life of his children....Men may choose the right or they may choose the wrong; they may walk in darkness or they may walk in the light; and mind you, God has not left his children without the light."
Daddy and mama said, "We are just here in the middle for such a short time to prove ourselves for the good. It is our choice. God has not left us alone to go through it. He loves us so much and wants us to be happy and return home to him. We both love you all so much. Let's get home together as one big wonderful family with no empty chairs. All of our love; Lynn & Melva Crookston "
