The Alleman reunion ask for an update on our family. Since I have not been to the reunion for many years I thought I had better tell how I am related and give a quick update on our lives. So here is what I sent to John and Nancy Tippets, reptippets@msn.com.
Emeline Alleman grew up milking cows at the Crow Creek ranch, in south east Idaho. Byron Crookston was a ranger on that part of the forest and he would stop in to visit and eat with them every week or so. Following milking, if Emeline saw his horse tied up in front, she would crawl in the back window and change before coming out to greet Byron. They married and had children named Lynn, Ray, George, Lola and Donna. The family lived in Logan, Utah.
Lola and Alden met while he was studying horticulture at the Utah Agriculture College in Logan. Alden was called on a mission to the Central States Mission and Lola wrote to him faithfully. They married when he returned but was drafted into the army to serve in World War II. He joined the Sanitary Corps and was assigned to a medical lab at a prisoner of war camp in Nebraska.
I was born in 1942 in Logan, Utah and am David, the oldest of eleven children as listed: Carole, Geneil, Louise, Louona, Myra, Carl, Lorena, Joe, Alice, Ralph. Alden became a Medical Doctor following the war and was in general practice in Ogden, Utah, where Lola and Alden resided. Alden died in 1965 and Lola died in 2004.
David and Mary Jean are school teachers. David is a library media teacher at Olympus Jr. and Mary Jean is a third grade teacher at Granger Elementary. We live in West Valley City and have five grown and married children and almost eight grand children.
Carole Buchannan lives in Roy, Utah and has raised foster children for many years. Her two boys and two girls are on their own now. Carole has Three grandchildren.

Mar, Mir, My
I title this first photo: Mar, Mir, My. We were dancing on Piha Beach. Did you know that all four cousins who visited New Zealand have names that start with "M"? We should have had Martha and Mary with us...who else in the Crookston Clan has an "M" name?
I entered this second photo in our American Fork Steal Days Art Show this last week.
This ship sits in a bay somewhere in the North Island of New Zealand.
Mark, was it in Pihia or was in Whangarei(sp?)? I won a third place ribbon in colored photos.
The judges told me that if I wanted to take really great photos I would have to upgrade
my camera.

images of New Zealand
Here are some images of New Zealand. I have over 2,ooo photos. Mark, Camille, Marnita and I visited Miriam and Bob who are living in Auckland and working for the church. We had a great time in the South Island as well as the North. We hope to see all our Crookston cousins on this blog, so we can all share stories about our families and get to know our clan a bit better. I will post more photos of New Zealand if anyone is interested.

June Snow
When I drove in to Fort BuenaVentura I thought I was seeing snow on the ground...I have never seen cottonwood blanketing the ground like that.
Carl brought a Kayak and David brought a canoe. Caroles daughters, Mayloni and Emily, and Maylonis husband Brad, are seen here ready to get out of the boat.
Geneils son Adam and his son Braden enjoyed fishing at the river. It was good to see some of the cousins. It seems like uncle Lynns family was well represented. Marnita makes a special trip every year to be at the Ray Crookston Reunion and the BF Crookston Reunion. This year Gail was given a plane ticket from the family who she babysits for. She was so happy to be here. I think we should all make the effort to be at our Reunion. My Crookston cousins have been my best friends over the years. I hope to see more of you next year.
